20th Century, Asian Pear

C$44.00Price

Also known as Nijisseiki, this asian pear was a chance discovery in a garbage dump in a pear growing district in Japan. It took Japan by storm and was widely planted. Nowadays it's considered a great early-mid season fruit. It is pick-able by labour day, but develops a yellow glow and sweetness the longer you leave it. Harvest it over the course of a month. If thinned, it's a large fruit the size of a fist.
