Black Mission Fig

This fig arrived in California in the mid 1700's. It's a medium to large fruit with dark purple skin with a light bloom, and soft pink insides.  The flavour is sweet, jammy and fruity. The breba crop (the first crop) ripens reliably outside on the west coast in early to mid August.
The fruit will go from feeling light and foamy to feeling heavy, soft and squishy, and droop downwards when it's ripe.
