Reputed to be the most hardy fig variety, suitable for zones 5-10. It produces medium size purple fruit with jammy pink interior. It's considered to be self fertile. Likely originating in Italy, but true origin unknown, it has many synonyms such as Azores Dark and Malta Black.
The breba crop (the first crop) ripens reliably outside on the west coast in early to mid August.
The fruit will go from feeling light and foamy to feeling heavy, soft and squishy, and droop downwards when it's ripe.
