Esopus Spitzenberg
Reputed to be Thomas Jefferson’s favorite apple, and a parent to Jonathan. This apple is medium sized, with orange red fruit with gray spots. It is an excellent dessert apple with hard, crisp, juicy fruit, but don't be tempted to pick early, it improves the late into the season and stores well.
Origin: USA, 1700
Pollination: Group 4
