Olympian Fig

The Olympian has a somewhat complex origin story, with this name and "discovery" coming from Olympia Washington, though it is recognized by other fig growers around the world as a commonly planted fig called the "English Brown Turkey", not to be confused with the "Californian Brown Turkey", and likely it comes from Italy many hundreds of years ago before be broadly spread across many fig growing regions of the world.
 
It's fruit is medium to large with light brown-reddish skin with a light green undertones. The flavour is sweet and honey'd, and very good. 
 
The breba crop (the first crop) ripens reliably outside on the west coast in early to mid August. And it's a hardy choice for colder regions. 
 
The fruit will go from feeling light and foamy to feeling heavy, soft and squishy, and droop downwards when it's ripe.
